Qur’an, Sura Al Ikhlas [Sincerity and Salvation], Chapter 112

In the name of Allah, The One Who Acts with Mercy, The Source of Mercy

1. Say, “He, Allah, is Ahad [Unique],

2. “Allah is Samad [Administrator of All Manifestation].

3. “He does not give birth, nor is He born,

4. “And nothing is equal to Ahad.”

Transliteration of Suratul Ikhlas:

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Qul Hu Allahu Ahad
Allahu Samad
Lam yalid wa lam yulad
Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan Ahad

40. And surely We have made the Qur’an easy to remember. But is there anyone who remembers and takes heed?

Names of Allah

Al Ahad – The Unique One

Al Rahim – The Source of Mercy

Al Rahman – The One Who Acts with Mercy; The Beneficent

Al Samad  – The Administrator of All Manifestation; The Receiver of Requests; The One to Whom All Should Appeal

‘alam-i lahut: the world, or realm, of the essence of Allah

‘alam-i wahdat: the world, or realm of oneness (potential energy)

Laylatul Qadr: Night of Power

qadr: laws and regulations; formula; measure; the law of probability; power

tasbih: glorification; chanting in glorification; repeating the names of Allah with the help of prayer beads; prayer beads; rosary; continuous glorification through repetition of Allah’s names

zikr: remembrance; mentioning Allah’s name repeatedly with certain intention and contemplation; glorification or supplication; reminder
