AQRT Zakat Message

Dear Murids and Muhibs,
As-Salaamu Alaykum

Ramadan Karim!
We pray that you have a blessed Ramadan.

During this blessed month, we can participate to help our Tariqa thrive and succeed Insha Allah [God willing]. It is this time of year to pay Zakat [Poor due; Alms], a charitable obligation for Muslims.

Shaykh Taner and Shaykha Muzeyyen are asking that you donate your Zakat’ el fitr and Zakat’ el mal to the Headquarters of the Ansari Qadiri Rifai Tariqa in New York. Your donation and support will help to carry the message of Allah, continue our community projects at the New York Center and worldwide, donate to the poor and hungry and to be a beacon of hope for all seekers on the Path of Truth.
 
There are two kinds of Zakat:

Zakat’el fitr for you and your family. Everybody who can must pay $10 or €10 or £10 per person in your household.

Zakat’el mal is based on your net earnings and property (your savings and financial assets). An Imam or Shaykh can help you figure this Zakat amount. To simplify this for Americans and others, Zakat’el mal is 2.5% of your total net income after your basic living expenses, like rent, food, utilities, etc. For example, if you make $40,000 and your basic needs cost $30,000, then on the $10,000 you pay $250 Zakat’el mal (2.5%).

Please send your ZAKAT and also your TITHE monies to AQRT Headquarters in New York.

> Center leaders can also collect Zakat locally and send as one amount to save on transfer fees or if you do not have access to any of the above options.

We would be most grateful for your generous donations to reach us as soon as possible during this Holy Month Insha Allah.

Attention: For those who need to pay Fidya monies (monies paid per day for not fasting). This year, Fidya is calculated at $5 or €5 or £5 per person per day.

Ya Wadud Ya Salaam Ya Jami Ya Nafi

Do they not see that Allah expands the provision for whomever He wishes, and also restricts it? Truly, in this are signs for a believing community. Therefore, give relatives their due, and to the needy and the traveler. That is best for those who seek Allah’s Wajha [Countenance; Essence (Zat); Personal Being], and they are the ones who will be successful. That which you give for the purpose of usury, in order that it may increase (your property) by drawing from the property of other people, will not increase (your reward or closeness) to Allah. But that which you give in zakat [charity] for the sake of Allah’s Wajha will increase many times over.
(Al Rum:37-39)
