Laylatul Qadr Mubarak!

The Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months. (Al Qadr 97:3)

What to do on Laylatul Qadr

What is the first thing we need to do? Ask for guidance. Allah gives us opportunities. We need to establish salat [a system of connection and devotion to Allah] especially on this day. We have to appeal to Allah to show Allah that we want Him, we are not ignoring Him and we want to take a path to Him. That is what din means. A path to Allah is din.

Contemplation on Laylatul Qadr

When you are doing Zikr, you have to visualize things. Visualize yourself in the middle of the universe with the angels and all that. Find a good picture of the universe from NASA or elsewhere, and put that in your mind and picture yourself there. When you say,

Allahu Akbar [Allah is Greater than Great]

Look at that picture. You have to see that picture in your mind and that is what you mean, Allahu Akbar, Allah is as Big as or Bigger than this.

Surely, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the difference of night and day are signs (from Allah) for ulul albab. Such are those who do zikr of Allah standing, and sitting and reclining, and contemplate the creation of the heavens and the earth, and say, “Our Rab, You did not create all this for nothing! Glory be to You! Please protect us from the torment of the Fire.
(Aal-e Imran 3:190-191)
