What I want to talk to you about is how to have a better relationship with people. First of all, when I was a student, then it was popular. There was this guy, Dale Carnegie. When I was a student, he was popular because he would teach how to say things. He was a speech teacher. How to use better words and this, that. I recommend that you guys should read his work. You will benefit from it, I believe, a lot of you. Because it looks like I am not able to teach you. So you need to take some speech courses or study Dale Carnegie. He has some good things to say besides me. It is ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’. It has been at least 40-50 years that this guy was famous. Now probably they have other professors writing books, speech books and this, that.
If you apply Sufism correctly and the intent to please Allah in every action, then there is no reason why you cannot get along with anybody. But in certain cases, you need to make an extra effort, if your intention is to get along. If your intention is not to get along, then there is nothing I can say or do that is going to help you.
And if they want to improve their relationship, Allah will bring them into an agreement. Indeed, Allah is Alim [All-Knowing] and Khabir [All-Aware]. (Al Nisa:35)
