Being a Sufi

Being a Sufi has its privileges and duties. We are purifying ourselves and our din [way of life] for Allah and for all humanity. It is also our job to pray for the world. We should ask ourselves, how many people are praying for the world? Everybody prays for themselves: Give me this; give me that. When we do not get it, we get upset. Most people think Allah is, or should be, their servant. Instead of fitting into Allah’s plan, they want Allah to fit into their plan. If it was so, that would be good. But the hard truth is Allah created us and we did not create Allah. All power belongs to Him and not to us. All we can do is intend and ask Allah’s help to go in His direction. In the world nothing is more important than that: Being able to see the truth, and accept the truth, and adhere to the truth. Intend to go to the direction of the absolute Truth. The rest is all temporary manifestation. Time is short. People are dying; young people, old people, middle-aged people.

What is death?

It is not losing our consciousness but losing our free will and losing our ability to “do”. We no longer have a body that listens to us.

Being a Wali

So, do you see that whatever you do here is very, very important? If you intended to know the Truth and to accept the Truth and to act with the Truth and prove this with your actions, then you are with Allah. And so, there is no grief or fear for you.

Ala inna awliya Allahi la khawfun ‘alayhim wa la hum yahzanun

There is no doubt that those assigned by Allah as helpers and protectors [the awliya] are those for whom there is no fear or heartbreak. (Yunus:62)

Now you are a friend of Allah. Allah has welcomed you and you may be a free soul to do and go as Allah wants you to do and go. It is to that end that we are trying to raise you.

Being a Student of Love

Allah is an unbiased, balanced state. Energy. Allah’s action depends on His plan and our actions, and Allah has shown us how to activate His powers in a certain manner through His most Beautiful Names. Allah is asking us to pray and forgive. Take forgiveness. Give the message and pray.

Our job is to observe, appreciate, love Allah with the love He is giving us. And not to object to whatever He is trying to teach us. He can put us into different situations to teach us different things. If we keep objecting, how are we going to learn? No matter who it is, how powerful one thinks they are, we are all weak. We all need to eat, we all need to be warm. We all need Allah constantly for our maintenance. All power belongs to Allah. His goal is to teach us Himself. Our goal should be to learn. From this learning, love is going to emerge. Not metaphorical love. Real love. We do not talk about this love. We live love!
