Power Assumption

Qudrat: Allah’s Power

How can we be with Allah when we are doing our work? When we are buying and selling?

First of all, whatever you are doing, you are doing it with some power. And this power is Allah’s power. And Allah is in the middle of everything that you do or you do not do.

“While Allah has created you and also what you do?” (Al Saffat:96)

So there comes some questions: If Allah is doing everything, shall we just sit down and do nothing and wait for things to happen? I have some people who do that, it works for them, but it does not work for me.

Dzan: Assumption

But no! The thing is that you need to do your part and then surrender to the part that you cannot control. How to surrender is not by objecting, but with an understanding that Allah knows better and with good dzan for Allah, which means good assumption.

“Then, what is your assumption about the Lord of the worlds?” (Al Saffat:87)

You have to assume that Allah is not trying to abuse you. Allah is not trying to torture you.

Surely Allah does not wrong people at all, but people wrong themselves. (Yunus:44)

(We do this) on account of what your own hands have sent forward, and because Allah does not abuse His subjects. (Aal-e Imran:182)

Truly Allah does not wrong anyone, even as much as an atom’s weight. If there is a good deed, He will multiply it, and from His close quarters He will give an immense reward. (Al Nisa:40)

O you who believe, do not get into the habit of making a lot of assumptions (about others), because some assumptions are (wrong and therefore) sins. Do not spy on or backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of their dead brother? You would surely hate doing that, would you not? Have taqwa, as Allah has prescribed, and know that truly Allah is Tawwab [Accepting] and Rahim [Full of Mercy and Kindness]. (Al Hujurat:12)

taqwa: self-vigilance; following the guidelines of Allah; watching over one’s deeds to conform with Allah’s rights and wrongs; devotion
